Tips on APA Format

All manuscripts submitted to the Review of Disability Studies must follow formatting guidelines set forth by the American Psychological Association (APA). Complete formatting guidelines can be found in the most current APA stylebook, available at most major bookstores.

The APA has an online tutorial to describe the basics of APA style. It is designed as a supplement to the manual, for those who have no experience with the APA publication guidelines, and refers to the chapters and sections of the manual as it progresses through topics. But, it is publicly available on their Web site so you don’t have to own the manual to view it. The video is 21 minutes long. http://flash1r.apa.org/apastyle/basics/index.htm

The APA Style Web site has more-detailed information in their “learning resources” section, including a FAQ page and a blog for the trickier questions. Learn more at: http://www.apastyle.org/.

For those who have APA experience, there’s a What’s new in version 6.0 section on the APA Style Web site as well.
